Fenerbahce are closing in on a move for Marseille forward Mason Greenwood, with senior club officials reportedly travelling to France to seal the deal.
Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu broke the news on his official X account, claiming two members of the Fenerbahce Football Committee have made the trip.
“EXCLUSIVE | Two names from Fenerbahçe Football Committee have gone to France to finalize the Mason Greenwood transfer!” Sabuncuoglu posted.
The 24-year-old has been one of the more talked-about players in European football given the circumstances surrounding his career in recent years.
Greenwood was arrested during his time at Manchester United, a situation that led to him being suspended and never representing the club again.
Charges against the former England international were subsequently dropped, but his path back into football in England has remained firmly blocked.
English clubs have shown no appetite to sign Greenwood, seemingly unwilling to absorb the controversy and public backlash that such a move would inevitably generate.
Greenwood instead moved to Marseille, where he rebuilt his career away from the Premier League spotlight and established himself as a key attacking option.
A transfer to Fenerbahce would represent another significant chapter in the forward’s career, moving from Ligue 1 to one of Turkish football’s most prominent clubs.
The presence of Fenerbahce Football Committee representatives in France strongly suggests both clubs are in advanced discussions and a deal could be imminent.
Greenwood still has plenty of years ahead of him at 24, and a move to Fenerbahce could provide a stable platform for him to continue his rehabilitation in the game.
More details are expected to emerge as negotiations progress between the two clubs and Greenwood’s representatives in the coming days.
