Tottenham Reach Loan Agreement With Fiorentina For Radu Dragusin In £21.4m Structured Deal

Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Dragusin is set to depart North London, joining Serie A club Fiorentina on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Sky Sports and prominent Spurs insider Alasdair Gold both confirmed the agreement between the two clubs on July 5, 2026.

The permanent obligation is valued at £21.4 million, equivalent to €25 million, and will be triggered automatically if Dragusin reaches a predetermined number of competitive appearances for Fiorentina.

Tottenham have also protected their long-term financial position by inserting a 10% sell-on clause into the agreement.

That clause guarantees Spurs a tenth of any profit Fiorentina generate from a future sale of the 24-year-old Romanian international.

Gold confirmed the structure of the deal, writing that the obligation is “£21.4m (25m euros) if he hits a set amount of games, plus a 10% sell-on on any profit Fiorentina should make on the Romanian with a later sale.”

Sky Sports reported that verbal agreements are in place, with formal paperwork expected to be completed swiftly so Dragusin can link up with his new teammates in Florence.

The departure represents the latest piece of business in what has been an incredibly active summer window for Tottenham under Roberto De Zerbi.

On the incoming front, Spurs have already secured the free transfer arrivals of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka to bolster the squad.

They also spent £52 million on Brighton centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke as they looked to significantly strengthen the defensive unit.

The club went even further in midfield, breaking their transfer record twice in quick succession by signing Mateus Fernandes for £85 million and then agreeing a £100 million deal for Sandro Tonali.

In terms of outgoings, Spurs recouped £50 million from the sale of highly-rated centre-back Luka Vuskovic to Brighton, with young forward Alejo Veliz also set to join Brazilian side Bahia for an undisclosed fee.

Dragusin’s time in England was ultimately a difficult and mixed chapter in his career, hindered by a severe long-term knee injury that ruled him out for a significant portion of his stay.

The Romanian had arrived at Tottenham with considerable pedigree, having famously rejected a late approach from Bayern Munich to pursue his dream of playing in the Premier League.

However, he found consistent first-team opportunities hard to come by and struggled to dislodge established defensive pairings throughout his time at the club.

A return to Serie A, where he previously impressed with Genoa, Juventus, and Sampdoria, now offers Dragusin the ideal environment to rebuild his fitness and revive his career.
