Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Andrey Santos after reaching a full agreement with Chelsea for the Brazilian midfielder.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the deal with his trademark “here we go” seal of approval, signalling the move is firmly in place.
United will pay Chelsea a total package worth £50 million to secure one of Brazil’s most exciting young midfield talents this summer.
Chelsea have also successfully negotiated a 10% sell-on clause into the agreement, protecting their long-term financial interests in the 22-year-old.
Santos is set to travel to Manchester within the next 24 hours to undergo his comprehensive medical tests and finalise personal terms.
Chelsea have formally authorised those medical tests to take place on Thursday, with a contract signing expected to follow swiftly afterwards.
A long-term deal running until June 2031 is ready and waiting to be signed as soon as the medical assessments have been completed.
Romano confirmed the news on July 8, 2026, writing: “Andrey Santos to Manchester United, here we go! Deal in place with medical now booked in next 24h for Brazilian midfielder.”
Technical director Christopher Vivell played a key role in identifying and pursuing Santos as a priority target for United’s midfield reinforcement this summer.
United manager Michael Carrick has been building a fluid, possession-heavy system that demands both technical intelligence and strong spatial awareness from midfield players.
Santos is regarded as a complete box-to-box midfielder capable of breaking up opposition transitions while also progressing the ball under pressure.
The young Brazilian is expected to line up alongside Kobbie Mainoo and Ederson, who has also agreed a deal with the Red Devils, forming a dynamic midfield unit.
Santos gives Carrick’s side a physical and defensive anchor in the middle of the park, potentially freeing up United’s creative players to dictate play further forward.
