Arsenal And Tottenham Both Target Mason Greenwood In €80m Summer Move

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are both weighing moves for Mason Greenwood, with French club Marseille prepared to sell their most prized asset this summer.

The 24-year-old has been one of the standout attackers in Ligue 1, earning interest from both north London clubs ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Greenwood is valued at €80 million by Marseille, making any potential deal a significant financial commitment for either club willing to pursue him.

His relationship with Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi is a key factor in the pursuit, having worked together at Marseille and building a strong understanding at the French club.

However, the potential move to Tottenham has already raised concerns among supporters, with fan groups making clear their opposition to the idea of signing Greenwood.

When De Zerbi was confirmed as Tottenham manager, a supporters’ group released a statement criticising the Italian’s public backing of Greenwood despite him being charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault during his time at Manchester United.

It remains to be seen how those concerns will influence the club’s decision-making, with Tottenham’s hierarchy forced to weigh sporting ambition against supporter sentiment.

Greenwood’s form for Marseille has been impossible to ignore, with the forward scoring 26 goals last season and contributing 11 assists across all competitions.

His versatility is another factor driving interest, as he is capable of operating on the flank as well as centrally, giving whichever club signs him significant tactical flexibility in attack.

Arsenal are also monitoring the situation closely, with the Gunners looking to add firepower to a squad that has been seeking greater sharpness and consistency in the final third.

Marseille are under pressure to raise funds in order to comply with FFP regulations, meaning they are prepared to sanction Greenwood’s departure if the right offer arrives.

With both London clubs circling and Marseille open to selling, the coming weeks are likely to bring greater clarity on where Greenwood will be playing his football next season.
