AC Milan Offered Chance To Sign Manchester United Midfielder Manuel Ugarte

Journalist Nicolo Schira has reported that Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte has been offered to AC Milan, though no active talks exist between the clubs at this stage.

The Uruguay international’s proposal to the Italian giants comes at an intriguing moment, with Ruben Amorim having agreed to take charge as AC Milan head coach, according to The Guardian.

Amorim and Ugarte share a significant history, having worked together at Sporting CP before their paths diverged across European football.

That existing relationship could give Milan a meaningful advantage in assessing Ugarte’s suitability, should they decide to pursue the idea more seriously.

However, it is important to stress that this remains only at the proposal stage, and describing it as an advanced transfer would be premature and misleading.

Ugarte joined Manchester United from Paris Saint-Germain in 2024, signing a five-year deal with the option of a further year, as confirmed by the Premier League at the time.

The move was designed to give United a long-term, combative ball-winner in central midfield, but the spell at Old Trafford has not gone according to plan.

Sky Sports recently reported that Ugarte is among the players expected to depart Old Trafford as United reshape their squad during the summer transfer window.

For Milan, bringing in a player who already understands Amorim’s tactical demands and pressing intensity would carry obvious appeal heading into a new managerial era.

The financial side of any deal remains the most complex obstacle, given the significant fee United paid to bring Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain in the first place.

United are unlikely to accept a heavy financial loss willingly, unless squad restructuring creates an urgent need to move players on quickly this summer.

A creative deal structure, such as a loan with a purchase option or obligation, may represent the most realistic pathway to making this transfer work for both parties.

There is no negotiation underway at this point, simply an opportunity placed on the table for Milan to consider as they prepare for Amorim’s arrival.

With United open to midfield changes and Milan entering a new chapter under a coach who knows Ugarte personally, this proposal is firmly one to monitor in the coming weeks.
