Chelsea Open To £120m Enzo Fernandez Sale As Real Madrid Talks Resume

Talks between Chelsea and Real Madrid over the potential sale of Enzo Fernandez have reportedly resumed, with the Blues demanding at least £120m for the midfielder.

BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella broke the news, reporting that personal terms with Fernandez’s entourage have never been a sticking point in negotiations.

Kinsella posted: “Real Madrid talks are also back on for Enzo Fernandez. Last price quoted by Chelsea was £120m but personal terms with the Argentine midfielder’s entourage have never been an issue and he is keen on the move.”

The Argentina international is said to be keen on the switch to the Bernabeu, adding further momentum to what could become a significant summer deal.

This potential transfer would mark another high-profile Chelsea departure to the Spanish capital, following Marc Cucurella’s recent move to Real Madrid.

Chelsea endured a desperately poor season, finishing 10th in the Premier League and missing out on European football entirely while also failing to claim any silverware.

An exodus of key players was perhaps inevitable after such a disappointing campaign, with Fernandez far from the only name being linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge.

Reports have also suggested that Malo Gusto is exploring a move away from Chelsea, further highlighting the scale of potential departures facing the club this summer.

Fernandez, who is 25 years old, could provide Real Madrid with a genuine upgrade in their midfield, with the report noting he could offer an improvement on Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga.

Chelsea will be acutely aware of the challenge ahead, as losing multiple first-team players simultaneously could make it extremely difficult to bring in adequate replacements.

The club’s ability to reinvest the reported £120m fee wisely will be crucial if they are to rebuild and challenge for a top-four Premier League spot next season.

While Fernandez has not always been the most consistent performer at Chelsea, his quality is undeniable and it is easy to understand his desire to compete at the highest level.
