Joelinton Returns To Sport Recife As Newcastle Midfielder Cheers Former Club To Victory

Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton made a surprise appearance at his former club Sport Recife, showing up to watch them beat Nautico in person.

The victory proved significant for the Brazilian side, as the result lifted them to the top of the Brasileiro Serie B table.

Joelinton came through the academy at Sport Recife before departing to pursue his career in European football.

The Newcastle midfielder went on to represent Rapid Wien and Hoffenheim before completing a £40 million transfer to Newcastle United.

Since arriving in England, Joelinton has established himself as an important player for Newcastle United.

Despite the success he has found at St. James’ Park, he clearly maintains a deep affection for his boyhood club in Brazil.

Joelinton was spotted wearing the Sport Recife home shirt with ‘Joelinton 7’ printed on the back during his visit to the stadium.

The Brazilian club presented him with the shirt upon his arrival, marking the occasion with a warm welcome for their returning favourite.

Recife shared a post on social media celebrating the visit: “Look who’s here! On vacation, Joelinton came to visit Sport and killed his longing for Retirement Island. Another blond fan- black on the classic! Always a pleasure having you around Big Joe!”

Joelinton has missed out on Brazil’s World Cup squad, which will come as a significant disappointment given his consistent performances in the Premier League.

He will now shift his focus toward returning fit and prepared for the upcoming season with Newcastle United.

Newcastle have endured a difficult campaign and will be looking to respond strongly, with key players like Joelinton central to their plans.

The Brazilian will need to perform at the highest level if Newcastle are to challenge for trophies and secure Champions League qualification next season.
