Juventus’s newly appointed CEO Giovanni Carnevali has publicly confirmed that Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is among the club’s top targets for the summer transfer window.
Speaking to the media about the Bianconeri’s summer recruitment plans, Carnevali made no attempt to conceal the club’s desire to bring in a high-quality goalkeeper.
The executive was speaking in the context of Juventus’s search for a long-term number one, openly acknowledging that the Italian international features prominently on their shortlist.
Carnevali confirmed that Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez has also been considered, but stressed that multiple profiles are being evaluated ahead of the window.
“Dibu Martínez is a top player with international experience, but he’s not the only name under consideration,” Carnevali revealed, with quotes attributed to Fabrizio Romano.
“There are more profiles on our list; we also think about Guglielmo Vicario and more,” the Juventus CEO added in his public statement.
The admission represents a significant development, with one of European football’s most storied clubs formally declaring their interest in the 29-year-old Premier League goalkeeper.
While Martinez remains an option, the significant financial demands surrounding the Argentine World Cup winner make Vicario a more realistic and economically attractive prospect for the Turin club.
Vicario’s future at Spurs has been the subject of considerable speculation throughout recent months, with his position at the club far from secure.
During his injury absence last season, Czech goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky stepped in and delivered a series of assured performances that convinced the club’s hierarchy of his long-term potential.
Tottenham have also reportedly agreed a deal to sign experienced goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on a free transfer, a move that would add further competition to the department.
With Kinsky widely expected to serve as Roberto De Zerbi’s first-choice goalkeeper for the coming season, Vicario’s pathway back into the starting eleven looks increasingly narrow.
Juventus will not have things their own way in the pursuit, however, with several other leading Serie A clubs also monitoring the situation closely.
Napoli have recently entered the race for Vicario’s signature, while Inter Milan have maintained a long-standing and serious interest in bringing the goalkeeper back to Italy.
The involvement of Napoli, Inter Milan, and Juventus means Tottenham could find themselves managing a fiercely competitive bidding situation should they formally decide to sanction the goalkeeper’s departure this summer.
