Manchester City Agree £130m Deal To Sign Elliot Anderson From Nottingham Forest

Manchester City have agreed a £130m transfer deal to sign England midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, according to reports.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has given the move his trademark “here we go” confirmation, with the Athletic’s David Ornstein also reporting the agreement.

Romano posted on X: “BREAKING: Elliot Anderson to Manchester City, here we go! Deal in place between the clubs, fee up to £130m.”

He added: “#MCFC sources confirm agreement now done after talks at final stages as reported last week. Anderson asked Forest today to go and leave the club. Medical in the US.”

The deal follows weeks of speculation linking Anderson with a move away from the City Ground after an impressive season with Nottingham Forest.

Anderson also represented England at the World Cup this summer, further cementing his reputation as one of the most exciting midfielders in the country.

The reported fee of up to £130m would surpass the £125m Liverpool paid Newcastle United for Alexander Isak last summer, setting a new English football transfer record.

If completed, the deal would make Anderson the third most expensive footballer in history, behind only Neymar at £200m and Kylian Mbappe at £165.7m.

Manchester City’s willingness to invest at this level signals serious ambition after missing out on the Premier League title to both Liverpool and Arsenal across the last two seasons.

The club also spent significantly in January, bringing in Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi, both of whom proved to be strong additions to the squad.

Anderson’s arrival would represent another major statement of intent, with City backing their project with another proven Premier League player who carries world class potential.

As always with deals of this magnitude, the transfer remains subject to Anderson completing his medical in the United States before it can be formally announced.
