Manchester United Eye £35m Juventus Midfielder As Italian Club Faces Financial Pressure

Manchester United are monitoring Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram as the Serie A club prepare for a financially difficult summer transfer window.

According to Corriere dello Sport, United are keen on the France international, with Juventus potentially willing to sell for around £35m.

That asking price represents genuine value for a midfielder of Thuram’s age, physical profile, and technical quality, making this an unusually attractive opportunity in the current market.

Juventus are under significant financial pressure after finishing sixth in Serie A last season, a campaign Reuters described as part of a major shake-up in Italian football.

Missing out on Champions League qualification has stripped the club of crucial European revenue, leaving them needing to balance the books before the summer window closes.

Reports suggest Juventus must generate a capital gain of around £10m-£11m before the end of June, adding urgency to any potential player sales this summer.

Thuram joined Juventus from Nice in 2024 on a five-year contract running until 2029, meaning the club are not under any immediate contractual pressure to sell.

However, the financial situation changes the picture considerably, and United could find themselves pushing at an open door if they move decisively and quickly.

From United’s perspective, Thuram addresses a genuine need in their squad, as the club have lacked physicality, power, and technical security in central midfield for some time.

He is strong in duels, carries the ball well, and could help United become a far more athletic and dynamic force in central areas of the pitch.

A further complication for rival suitors has emerged, with Al-Ahli reportedly willing to meet Juventus’ valuation, only for Thuram to resist the prospect of leaving Europe entirely.

The French international is said to prefer a move to the Premier League, a preference that places United in a strong position among the clubs showing interest.

United have missed out on several midfield targets in recent transfer windows, but Thuram’s clear desire to remain in European football makes this pursuit feel more realistic than most.

With Juventus needing funds and Thuram wanting Premier League football, both parties’ motivations appear to align in a way that could genuinely benefit United this window.
