Marc Cucurella Dismisses Chelsea Exit Talk And Reveals Xabi Alonso Conversation Gave Him Confidence

Marc Cucurella has moved to silence speculation surrounding his Chelsea future, insisting he pays very little attention to transfer rumours linking him with a move away from the club.

The Spanish international has been heavily linked with a departure during the summer transfer window, but the defender appears relaxed about the situation and focused on other matters.

Cucurella revealed that he has already held talks with newly appointed Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso, and those conversations have left him feeling positive about the season ahead.

The full-back also consulted fellow Spanish players who have previously worked under Alonso, and their glowing assessments only strengthened his belief in the project at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to MARCA, Cucurella explained his approach to the transfer speculation: “By reading very little and paying little attention. My agents already know they shouldn’t tell me anything. I’m very happy where I am, and so is my family.”

He made clear that his immediate focus lies elsewhere, adding: “What’s meant to be will be. Right now, I’m focusing on the World Cup and enjoying this experience, which is my first, and who knows if it will be my last.”

On his conversation with the new Chelsea boss, Cucurella was direct: “Yes. I’ve spoken with him and he inspired a lot of confidence in me.”

He also drew on testimonials from Grimaldo and Borja, two players who have worked directly under Alonso, saying: “I’ve also spoken with Grimaldo and Borja, who have worked with him, and they spoke very highly of him. The project seems very interesting.”

The news will provide a significant boost to Chelsea as they prepare for the upcoming campaign under Alonso, having endured a difficult season that left them outside European football entirely.

Alonso arrives at Stamford Bridge with the expectation of turning fortunes around quickly, and retaining a committed and settled squad will be central to any revival he attempts to build.

Cucurella’s willingness to embrace the new manager’s vision suggests Chelsea can count on his services, giving Alonso a reliable option at left-back as he begins reshaping the team.

The club will be eager to return to the UEFA Champions League and challenge for trophies once again, and securing the loyalty of key players like Cucurella is an important step toward achieving those ambitions.
