Inter Miami came away with a 1-1 draw against Toronto FC on Saturday afternoon, stretching its unbeaten streak in league play to four matches. Tadeo Allende delivered the lone goal for Miami at BMO Field in Toronto.
Allende broke the deadlock just before halftime, rising at the back post to head in a pinpoint cross from Jordi Alba during first-half stoppage time. The strike marked Allende’s ninth goal of the season, while Alba picked up his 11th assist.
Toronto responded after the break, leveling the score in the 60th minute when Djordje Mihailovic found the back of the net. Inter Miami kept pressing for a late winner, but the match ended locked at 1-1 when the final whistle blew.

Despite the outcome, Inter Miami manager Javier Mascherano believes that his side should have come away with the three points rather than settling for the draw north of the border.

“I think we deserved to win,” Mascherano told reporters after the match (h/t En Juego Sports). “We had the most clear chances during the game. Maybe we had ten or fifteen minutes in the second half where there was a little bit of confusion, but in the end, we had the game under control, keeping the ball and attacking.
“I think their goalkeeper was the man of the match. It’s disappointing because we came here to win and wanted to move up in the qualification, but we have to move forward. We still have four more games, so we’ll try to win them all and finish as high as possible.”
Inter Miami won’t have much time to rest, with Chicago Fire FC coming to town on Tuesday, Sept. 30. Javier Mascherano’s side has just four matches left on the schedule before shifting its full attention to the playoffs as the club looks to win its first league title.
