Inter Miami receive brutal MLS playoff prediction

Lionel Messi, Inter Miami

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami won’t be judged by what they do in the MLS regular season. All the praise or criticism will come from what the squad does in the playoffs.

Since the Messi era began in 2023, the South Florida club has yet to win a league or international title. Last season, Inter Miami was shockingly eliminated by Atlanta United in the playoffs. As a result, this group will look to avoid that from happening again.

Moreover, Inter Miami will need to turn its situation around to have positive momentum heading into the playoffs. Messi and Co. are on a two-match winless streak and have three games to turn their situation around.

On the latest “Inside Inter Miami” podcast, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald gave a grim outlook for Javier Mascherano and his team in the playoffs. Despite the money spent to assemble this team, Fernandez believes the squad could be heading toward another playoff disappointment.

“I honestly, and this is just my opinion, I don’t see them winning at all because the scary part for this team is there is a blueprint on how to beat them that has repeatedly been executed well by, you said, by these better teams,” Fernandez said.

“And if you told me, we’ve seen it in sports before, sometimes you have a blueprint on how to beat a team, but they’re just so good that you can’t. There’s just no way. Or maybe it’s just so hard that it’s fluky when you kind of pull it off. This is not fluky. There is a blueprint on how to beat this team.”

Inter Miami will close out the regular season facing New England Revolution, Nashville SC, and Atlanta United. The South Florida club will be looking to win three winnable matches to head into the postseason on a positive note. Nonetheless, should this winless streak continue, the concerns for this squad will rise.
