Top 5 Inter Miami players of all time

Inter Miami have surpassed the half-decade mark in their history as it began in 2020. The South Florida club has had several players suit up in their six-year history, with the most prominent name being Lionel Messi. 

Nonetheless, other names have left their mark along with the Argentine, so who are the top five players in Inter Miami’s early history? Well, let’s take a look. 

Lionel Messi

Let’s get the obvious one out of the way first. Messi arrived from Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent in 2023, and since then, he’s gone on to appear in 71 total appearances for the Herons. Furthermore, he’s scored 59 goals and 29 assists, and this goal tally is the second most that the Argentine has recorded for a club after FC Barcelona. 

Messi was also part of the squad that delivered Inter Miami their first trophy in club history as he helped win Leagues Cup in 2023. Moreover, Inter Miami have a chance to win that same competition in 2025, so there’s an opportunity for the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner to continue leaving his mark with the MLS side. 

Sergio Busquets

Of the four former Barcelona players to join Inter Miami (Messi, Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suarez), Busquets has the most total appearances for the Herons. Furthermore, like Messi, Busquets was part of the squad that won Leagues Cup in 2023 and also won the Community Shield for recording the best record during the 2024 MLS regular season. 

The veteran midfielder has made 98 total appearances and should cross the 100 mark with the South Florida club shortly. Busquets is in the final year of his three-year contract, and he will likely depart to allow Rodrigo De Paul to assume one of the Designated Player spots. 

Jordi Alba

Alba is second behind Busquets in total appearances when it comes to the four former Barcelona players that are suiting up for Inter Miami since 2023. The left-back has appeared in 85 games for the Herons while scoring 11 goals. Alba is under contract until 2028, so he should cross the 100 total appearance mark and add to his stat tallies. Regarding trophies, Alba was also part of the squad that won Leagues Cup in 2023 and the Community Shield last season. 

Luis Suarez

Only Messi has more goals than Suarez in an Inter Miami kit, with the veteran striker recording 36 goals in 74 total appearances. Suarez wasn’t part of the squad that won Leagues Cup in 2023, but the Uruguayan will hope to win that competition next season if he signs a new deal with the Herons. Nonetheless, Suarez was part of the team that won the Community Shield last season. 

Robert Taylor

The 30-year-old has the most total appearances for any Inter Miami player in the club’s early history with 116 after playing for the South Florida side from 2022 to 2025. During his four-year tenure, Taylor recorded 18 goals and 18 assists while also being part of the team that won Leagues Cup in 2023 and the Community Shield in 2024. He left Inter Miami in 2025 to join MLS club Austin FC.
