Newcastle United Seal €50m Deal For Ivorian Winger As Liverpool Miss Out

Newcastle United have beaten Liverpool to the signing of Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure in a €50m package deal confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.

The 20-year-old Ivory Coast international had been strongly linked with Liverpool through reports from Sky Germany and TEAMtalk before Newcastle won the race.

Romano posted his trademark confirmation on X, leaving no doubt that the deal is firmly in place and the player is set to move to Tyneside imminently.

Romano’s post read: “Newcastle agree €50m package deal to sign Ivorian winger Bazoumana Touré, here we go! Agreement sealed with player’s agents and Hoffenheim after official bid submitted today, as @TeleFootball reports.”

Romano also confirmed the duration and timeline of the agreement, adding: “Touré will sign a long term deal at #NUFC this week.”

Toure contributed five goals and nine assists to Hoffenheim’s Bundesliga campaign last season, underlining his quality as both a scorer and a creator.

Those numbers attracted interest from clubs across Europe, and it is easy to see why Newcastle moved decisively to get the deal done ahead of their rivals.

The blow is a significant one for Liverpool, who are also understood to have missed out on Yan Diomande, with the Athletic reporting he now looks more likely to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Newcastle are believed to need attacking reinforcements following the expected departure of winger Anthony Gordon, making Toure a logical and timely addition to Eddie Howe’s squad.

Moving from the Bundesliga to the Premier League will represent a significant step up in level for the youngster, but his age and trajectory suggest he has the potential to make that transition successfully.

At just 20 years old, Toure is considered to be at an ideal stage of his career to develop further under Howe’s management at St James’ Park.

His combination of pace, skill, and consistent goal involvement at club level already marks him out as a player with considerable upside for Newcastle’s long-term ambitions.

The fee represents a serious financial commitment from Newcastle, though his production and age profile suggest the club view him as an investment rather than a short-term fix.

Liverpool will now need to look elsewhere to strengthen their attacking options, having now seen two targets linked with the club move in a different direction this summer.
