Top 5 Premier League players Inter Miami should sign for next season

Inter Miami will have to usher out their aging stars over the next couple of years, and the process began this summer with Rodrigo De Paul. The former Atletico Madrid midfielder will soon take over for Sergio Busquets.

Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi, and Jordi Alba will eventually move on, with the Argentine set to transition into an ownership role. He can buy a stake in Inter Miami CF once his playing career ends, rather than being a co-owner right now.

So what players from the Premier League could Inter Miami pursue next summer to add younger legs to the squad?

Messi has already added one former teammate from the Argentina national team in De Paul, so it will make sense that he finds the goalkeeper to arrive too. Last season, Martinez said goodbye to the Aston Villa supporters, believing that he was preparing for a move elsewhere. However, that transfer never came.

As a result, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he decides to join Messi next summer after the 2026 FIFA World Cup and play out the remaining years of his career in MLS.

If Inter Miami were to go for Martinez, why not add the other Argentine too? Buendia doesn’t seem to be in the plans for Unai Emery after he was allowed to leave last year to join Bayer Leverkusen. He’s returned to the Premier League side, under contract until 2027. If he doesn’t go or find a long-term club, perhaps playing in MLS with Messi could appeal to him.

The pattern that Inter Miam has since Messi joined them is to add top players he’s familiar with which explains the Suarez, Busquets, Alba, and De Paul moves. Even the managers that the Herons have hired have a connection with the 2022 World Cup winner as Gerardo Martino and Javier Mascherano have a past connection to Messi.

Inter Miami have struggled on defense, so why wouldn’t Messi want the club to sign Lisandro Martinez, who is teammates with the former Barcelona standout on the Argentina national team? Moreover, the veteran’s contract also runs out in 2027, so next year could be the last time the Red Devils can secure a sum.

Raúl Jiménez (Fulham)

Inter Miami have gone into the Mexican market in the past and the need for a striker to replace Suarez is evident. The Fulham standout isn’t a spring chicken, but he could be a stop gap for the club if they can’t land any young option and also to maximize the window they have with Messi, since it’s been a veteran group of players following the Argentine’s arrival.

Since joining Fulham in 2023, Jiménez has scored 22 goals and recorded three assists. Moreover, with his contract expiring in 2026, the Mexican international wouldn’t cost a transfer fee.

Rodrigo Bentancur (Tottenham Hotspur)

Suarez appears to be on the way out after this season, so why not replace one Uruguyan with another? Moreover, Inter Miami’s midfield has been hit this summer with the departure of Federico Redondo, who left for La Liga, and Benjamin Cremaschi is joining Italian side Parma. Moreover, Busquets looks to be departing after this MLS season, so the Inter Miami midfield needs rebuilding. Why not pursue Bentancur?
